I am sure there are many people who, when they first arrived in Japan, thought that Japanese people have bad manners when it comes to eating.
This is probably because they find the sound of slurping noodles and soup in particular offensive.
In Japan, it is a very common culture. Please understand.
There are many reasons to slurp noodles. When you slurp noodles, you inhale air through your nose at the same time. This allows you to enjoy the taste and aroma of the food, which makes it more delicious. It also seems to have the effect of preventing burns from hot rice noodles. Nowadays, there is even a term for this: noodle harassment. However, please forgive me while I am in Japan.
As the saying goes, “when in Rome, do as the Romans do. It may be very different from your own culture.
If possible, I would like you to enjoy Japanese culture with an open mind.
